Welcome to my 5 year travel bucket list! Part of loving travel is always having ideas in your mind of where you want to go next. For me and for many other people as well, the list seems never ending. To say I want to go literally everywhere in the world is not an understatement. When I think about traveling, I don’t see it every ending for me. I want to be seeing new places until the day I die. But realistically, this a huge goal and it’s hard to list out all the places I want to visit.
To sort of reel in my own thoughts, I’ve decided I’m going to start setting time-focused bucket lists for myself when it comes to travel. So to start, I’ve made a 5 year bucket list. The next 5 years will consist of mainly U.S. travel, with hopefully a trip or two abroad.
Bucket lists are such a fun way to get inspired and excited to travel. They also can help you realize your own goals and be a reminder for when you want to plan your next trip.
Here is my 5 year travel bucket list:
United States
As someone who lives in the U.S., it’s a big goal for me to see as much of my home country as I can. I also think traveling throughout the U.S. is a much more attainable goal than always traveling abroad. There are some general places we want to travel to (states) and some more specific places (cities, landmarks, etc.)
Every U.S. State
(for context here is the current status of my U.S. travel)
Boston, MA
We absolutely love Boston and have been dying to get back there for years. The first time we went, we were only there for about 4 days, so we are wanting to take a longer trip soon to really see all that Boston has to offer.
Charleston, SC
This is a city that my husband has been to but I have not been to. It’s a place we have been really wanting to visit and we hope to finally check it off the list in the next couple of years.
Disney World
We’re big Disney people. My husband grew up going to Disney World, but I went for the first time in 2020 (pre-COVID). I’ve only been to 2/4 parks so far and I’m dying to go back and experience the parts I missed.
Disneyland
Neither one of us have been to Disneyland, so that’s a big goal for the next few years. We want to go to every Disney park eventually, and Disneyland is the next one to do since it’s here in the U.S.
Universal Studios (mainly the Wizarding World of Harry Potter)
We’re huge Harry Potter fans and neither of us have experienced this. So hopefully in the next few years, we get to visit this piece of Universal Studios.
As many national parks as possible.
I would love to visit every single U.S. national park in the next 5 years, but if I can’t reach that goal, I would at least like to have marked off a good chunk of them.
Outside of the U.S.
Montreal, Canada
Sort of random, but it’s a city we have been interested in for a while and have been dying to go to. Neither of us have been to Canada, so I’d say this will be the first place we visit in the country. I feel like Montreal is a good stepping stone to traveling to Europe for the first time. Montreal is primarily French speaking and there’s a lot of European influence. I’m excited to go there and get a small taste of European culture before going on my first trip to Europe.
Iceland
This country is so dreamy and it’s at the top of my bucket list. I think the first time we travel to Europe, this will be the place we end up.
Ireland/Scotland/UK
I’m lumping these all together because they’re all right there around each other. Time allowing, our first Europe trip will likely include these places as well.
