I can’t believe 2020 is already more than halfway over with. This has truly been one of the craziest years, and while there have been many curveballs thrown into all of our daily lives, I believe these past few months have also given us a lot of time to think about what we truly care about and want in life.
I have formed a list of goals that I would like to achieve before 2020 comes to an end.
1. Develop a morning routine.
I am the WORST in the morning.
I usually wake up last minute, get ready as fast as I can, grab my coffee, and rush out the door. I’m the kind of person who will sleep through multiple alarms.
Because of my lack of ability to get up early, I feel myself wasting time that could be spent doing a morning routine that would give me a good and healthy start to the day.
I would love to get into the habit of waking up earlier in the morning and having a period of time that I can designate to a morning routine.
It would be great to have time to sit and journal, or make myself breakfast, or spend some time reading my bible.
I know this would help me become a happier person and I would probably feel a little more energized throughout the day.
2. Learn to cook 5 new healthy meals
As someone who is a terrible cook, I find myself eating out a lot, which is definitely not the best option for my body and mind.
During the remainder of 2020, I’d like to learn how to cook five new healthy meals so that I can get into the habit of eating more at home.
3. Break my sugar addiction
A big part of me becoming more healthy overall is fixing my addiction to sugar.
I know sugar is bad for me.
I know it not only makes me physically unhealthy, but that it also leads to poor sleep, poor mental health and overall, it just makes me feel bad.
This one will probably be the hardest goal to achieve (because like i said, it’s an addiction), but I know that when I do achieve the goal, I will feel a million times better.
4. Make more eco-friendly swaps in my home
I’ve already made some swaps in my home, but I want to keep increasing the amount of zero waste products I have, and decrease the amount of wasteful products.
I care so much about the environment and I want to keep doing my part to make a difference.
5. Get back into yoga
I’m not a big lover of exercise.
However, when I used to do yoga frequently, I felt stronger, more balanced, and just overall healthier.
For some reason, I quit doing yoga a couple of years ago, and I have to say, I’ve lost most of my flexibility and strength, and I’ve lost that experience of doing a workout I actually enjoy.
I’d love for this to be the year that I get back into a healthy yoga routine.
6. Make time for self care
While I know the importance of frequent self care, I’m not the best at actually making time for it.
I know my mental health would greatly benefit from more time dedicated to taking care of my mind.
I need to find room in my schedule, whether it be daily or weekly, to truly do some self-care activities.
For me, I know that probably looks like putting on some cozy clothes and doing a puzzle while listening to some music.
7. Make my health more of a priority
This is pretty much the goal that encapsulates all of the other goals on my list, but my health needs to be more of a priority in my life.
As someone who is always busy, I’ve spent several years putting nearly everything before my health.
Now I feel the serious consequences of doing that.
This year I want to make more conscious decisions about my health and truly give my body and mind what they need to thrive.
8. De-clutter my home + create a space I love
Part of good mental health for me is having a space where I can go to feel calm and inspired.
At this moment, I wouldn’t describe my home as very calm or inspiring.
It’s a mixture of not-my-style hand-me-down items and a few items I’ve picked out.
I’d love to make some changes to my living space so that it becomes the best environment for me to thrive in- creatively, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
9. Get better sleep
Seems simple. But for me, this is a big goal.
I don’t sleep very well and haven’t in years.
There are often nights where my mind will keep me awake for hours and hours.
Some nights, I purposely stay up late because going to bed early feels like I’m wasting time that I could be using to do something more productive than sleeping.
But I know now that sleeping is a good thing.
It’s good for your body, it helps your mind, and tbh, it helps in like, every single area of your life.
Better sleep helps you function the way you’re supposed to.
I know that by letting myself get poor sleep, I am missing out on a ton of benefits.
I would like to find ways to get much better sleep, like making my room more cozy so that when I go there at night, I feel relaxed and ready for rest.
10. Find a new hobby I love
Like I mentioned earlier, I seem to always be busy, and because of that, I don’t really make much time for hobbies.
I’m not even sure what I would say my hobbies are.
So my final goal: I would like to find a hobby that I truly enjoy and that I can do in my free time to help me feel more balanced and happy.
There are so many hobbies I want to try, so hopefully one of those will end up being something I love!
So that’s it, there are my 10 goals for the remainder of 2020!
What goals do you have for the rest of this year? I would love to hear them!
