Every now and then, our brains are working on overdrive and aren’t quite being… nice.
I’ve been there and end up there more than I’d like to.
Today, I wanted to remind you (the anxious, the overthinker, the depressed, the girl with low confidence) of some things that will hopefully help you feel better!
1. No one posts the bad stuff on social media- so don’t compare yourself/your life to what you’re seeing online.
Don’t compare your low moments to someone else’s high moments. Not only that, but it’s easy to change how things look so you can post it on social media. Enjoy where you are in life and know that no one’s life is perfect- no matter what you see online.
2. Nothing is ever as bad as it is in your mind.
How many times have you nervously anticipated something and imagine that it would be horrible only to realize after it all that it was not that bad? Our minds are usually our biggest contributors to anxiety and stress. It’s kind of their job to anticipate the worst-case-scenario so they can plan accordingly. But rarely (if ever) do things actually go as bad as we are afraid they will go. I hope you can find some peace in knowing that.
3. You’ve gotten through so much stuff so far, you can get through anything that comes your way.
Think about how many hard moments you have gotten through in your life. And with every experience, you get a little bit stronger, a little bit more experienced. You’ve gotten through so. much. stuff. You will get through this too, I promise. Have some faith in yourself.
4. The hard times you’re facing right now won’t last forever.
“This too shall pass” is a saying I have on repeat in my brain. Nothing lasts forever, which is comforting when we think about the hard stuff we may be going through. This situation you’re in, or the thoughts you’re having, or that awful feeling you have, it won’t last forever. It will pass and brighter days will be here.
5. You have a purpose and you belong here.
In case you haven’t been told lately (or even if you have), you belong here. You have a purpose, you are loved, and your life is worth living. If you ever doubt that you are loved, cared for, or worth it, I want to remind you that you 100% are. Stay strong and remind yourself that you belong here.
